Odyssey

Hello Candy;

I’m just writing to inform you of this competition we have that is the Singapore 2010 Odyssey Inter School Championships. The competition is sort of a virtual-Youth Olympic Games or the Youth Olympic Cyber-Games where students represent their schools in the virtual world of Singapore 2010 Odyssey in various sports during the June holidays. Perhaps your school ICT teacher or ICT trainer can help us get students for the competition?

I’ll like to invite your school to send in a team of 7 students to take part. I understand that there is little time for the students now, as they are going to get ready for the holidays. The competition is very easy, sign up a team of 7 committed students, play the games on the the set timings e.g. 3pm, in the virtual world, winner of the games proceeds to next round. Most of the events would be held online in the virtual world during the days of 9-11th June.

The competition page is here. https://forum.singapore2010odyssey.sg/championship/ , and the signup page is

https://forum.singapore2010odyssey.sg/championship/register.php

The registration closing date on the 2th of June and the actual games at Funan is on the 14th – 16th of June. The heats would be on the 9th – 11th of June 2010 online.

This is a good opportunity for the students who are good at computer games to channel their energies towards a more ‘positive’ approach and also to develop their leadership and responsibility. (e.g making sure all their teammates turn up at the area online at the right time, turning up for competition, etc)

There would be early bird prizes for those who sign up first – First 20 schools who register (officially through the website) will get desktop PC (ONE, regardless of how many teams they send in). Please help us make this event a successful one! = )
